Sundareswari Thiyagarajan
Co-authored the lab's drug–drug interaction extraction paper on machine learning and transformer-based models, published via SSRN and bioRxiv.
People
The lab is deliberately international and deliberately cross-disciplinary. Members arrive from computer science, law, media, business, biology and design — and leave with published work.
01 — Leadership
Founder of the lab and mentor on every project running inside it. His own work spans multimodal content generation, computer vision and cybersecurity, with published surveys of vision–language foundation models and a review tracing the evolution of AI tooling from 1950 to 2025.
He currently supervises both active projects and co-authors with members rather than for them — every paper on the publications page carries a student name beside his.
02 — Collaboration
Four groups are running in the lab right now. Gurpreet sits in every one of them — which is why all four outlines meet where he stands. Hover a group to isolate it.
Earlier co-authorships — with Nishaa Ghosh, Sundareswari Thiyagarajan, Alisha Naaz, Asma Syed, Vantala Akhila, Prof. Saurabh Singh and Prof. Preethi Ananthachari — are listed on the publications page.
03 — Honours
Both took the route the lab exists to open — funded postgraduate study in Korea, one on a professor-funded scholarship and one on the Global Korea Scholarship, the Korean government's most competitive award for international students.
Co-authored the lab's drug–drug interaction extraction paper on machine learning and transformer-based models, published via SSRN and bioRxiv.
Part of the Business Growth and Management research team, applying AI-driven analytics to strategy across marketing, media and the entertainment industry.
04 — Around the world
Eight members work from outside India. Not all of them are on an active project at this moment — research runs in cycles — but they remain members of the lab and part of how it thinks.

Digital society, creative and cultural industries, educational innovation, social innovation, sustainability and human–environment systems.
Agentic AI systems, applied mathematics, probabilistic machine learning, causal inference, evaluation science, and law and criminology as questions of decision integrity.

Machine learning, artificial neural networks, brain–computer interfaces and neuro-inspired AI.

AI for computer vision, and the intersection of machine learning with law.

Computer vision and machine learning. Presented on CNN architectures for deepfake video detection at ICA2S 2025.

Artificial intelligence, machine learning and law.

Artificial intelligence, machine learning and biology.
Marketing, media and the entertainment industry. Former member of the Business Growth and Management research team.
05 — In India
Three of the four running projects are staffed from here, alongside the mentor and members working from abroad.

Sustainable AI and privacy. Co-author on the review tracing the evolution of artificial intelligence, 1950–2025.

International business and ESG.

Artificial intelligence for computer vision.
06 — Recently joined
Members who arrived in the most recent intake. Each is being matched to a project — which, in a lab that takes people from any discipline, means finding the question their own field is already asking.

Artificial intelligence, journalism, media culture and psychology, and fashion and textile innovation.

Gene editing.

Research interests to be announced.

Marketing and social media, with an industry focus on entertainment and beauty.

AI-driven business and marketing.

Artificial intelligence in accounting, financial technology and business analytics.

AI in healthcare and drug discovery — particularly the use of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical research, drug development and improving healthcare outcomes.

Business, strategic management, supply chain and logistics, and digital transformation.

International business, global trade, cross-cultural management, international marketing and global business strategy, alongside sustainable development, emerging markets, the digital economy, innovation and global studies.

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science and statistical analysis.

Speech and language processing, media and entertainment, media psychology and culture.

Research interests to be announced.

Artificial intelligence, creative technologies, human–computer interaction, digital media, user experience and interdisciplinary research.

AI applications in financial markets, algorithmic trading, digital banking and FinTech — how artificial intelligence can improve financial decision-making and support innovation in the financial sector.

Psychology, specifically industrial and organisational psychology.

Two areas: international trade and economics law, approached from the India–Korea relationship; and Korean culture studies, particularly the folklore of Queen Heo Hwang Ok and King Kim Suro and how the monk Ilyeon gathered and recorded it.

AI in logistics, supply chain management and port operations, and AI in the RA lifestyle.

Supply chain management, logistics and operations management, procurement and inventory management, artificial intelligence in business operations, and international trade.

International business and global market expansion, international trade and economic cooperation, cross-cultural business communication, and digital marketing and consumer behaviour.
